Job summary

IBC Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Male Support Worker to provide one-to-one support to an adult with learning disabilities in the Chesterfield area. The role emphasizes therapeutic, person-centred care, helping the individual build routines, confidence and independence at home and in the community.

You will work from an individualised support plan within PBS, promoting routine, safety and dignity while supporting daily living, personal care, and social inclusion.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or behaviours of concern.
• Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and trauma-informed practice.
• Strong de-escalation, communication and observational skills.
• Calm, patient, non-reactive approach and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centred, therapeutic support tailored to the individual's needs, preferences and goals.
• Promote independence and meaningful daily choices.
• Support with personal care while maintaining dignity and respect.
• Support medication administration in line with policy.
• Assist daily living tasks and budgeting, building skills and confidence.
• Encourage community access and social inclusion tailored to interests.
• Follow the support plan, risk assessment and PBS plans consistently.
• Recognise early signs of distress and use de-escalation to minimise restrictive practice.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and records.
• Collaborate with family, healthcare professionals, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
