Job summary

Dovetail and Slate is seeking a Learning Mentor in Gloucestershire to support learners aged 16-25 with SEMH needs and additional difficulties. You will work as a key worker in a specialist provision, applying trauma-informed approaches to boost emotional wellbeing and readiness to learn.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 08:45–16:30, in a contract position that provides cover until the winter break. Collaboration with families and professionals is essential to enable learners to progress toward

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience working with young people with EHCPs or additional needs.
• Ability to communicate professionally and collaboratively with families and staff.
• Experience implementing trauma-informed approaches in education or care settings.
• Commitment to safeguarding and supporting learner wellbeing.
• Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS checks.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key worker for learners aged 16-25 with SEMH needs and learning difficulties.
• Build trusting relationships to support emotional wellbeing and independence.
• Apply trauma-informed, coaching-based approaches to aid readiness to learn.
• Support learners with EHCPs to engage in education and develop life skills.
• Collaborate with families, therapists and staff to achieve positive outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records and help learners progress toward goals.
