Job summary

Compass Community Schools in the United Kingdom is seeking HLTA staff to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and other SEND. Our team provides extensive therapeutic training and works within a trauma-informed framework to place the child at the centre of decision-making.

The HLTA will support teachers, work 1:1 or in small groups, manage resources and help with trips. A manual driving licence is required for school trips, and staff are encouraged to engage in

Responsibilities

• Supporting teachers in the classroom
• Working with children 1:1 or delivering sessions with small groups of students
• Managing classroom resources
• Taking children on trips and visits (all candidates must have a manual licence as there are manual vehicles in the school)
• Having their lunch with children who struggle socially
• Managing heightened behaviours and keeping children safe
• Playing board games
• Celebrating success
• Part of therapy sessions or reflecting on difficult periods
