An established industry player is seeking a part-time Theatre Technician to support the effective operation of its ACT Theatre. This role involves managing equipment and ensuring health and safety standards are met for teaching and events. Ideal candidates will have experience in backstage theatre production and strong IT skills. Flexibility is essential as the role may require weekend and evening work. The Creative Industries School at Kingston College offers a range of courses from level 1 to level 4, covering Art and Design, Media, Music, and Performing Arts. The school provides full-time 16-19 Study Programmes, Access Diplomas, Higher Education courses, and has expanded into part-time Adult Education courses, aiming to serve the local community by making specialist resources available for hire.
We are seeking a Theatre Technician to ensure the effective operation of the College’s ACT Theatre for teaching, internal events, and external hires. Responsibilities include managing equipment and stock levels, maintaining the theatre, performance spaces, and workshops to meet health and safety standards. You will support students and staff by managing equipment distribution, collection, and repairs, and assist with supervision and guidance in an educational environment.
Requirements include general experience in backstage theatre production, strong IT skills, and familiarity with specialist equipment such as lighting and sound. The role requires flexibility, including working weekends and evenings, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. A formal technical or educational qualification is preferred but not essential.
The successful candidate will be eligible for salary increases based on annual cost of living reviews.
