Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a Band 3 healthcare assistant for the Main Theatres and MITU department. The role focuses on theatre preparation, patient transfer and assisting the scrub practitioner during operating lists.

It is a permanent full-time post of 37.5 hours on early and late shifts across the week, with opportunities to develop in a clinical setting and contribute to infection prevention and patient care.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Operating Department Support or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a theatre department.
• Enhanced DBS check where required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare theatres, instruments and supplies before operating lists.
• Collect patients from the ward and support their transfer and positioning.
• Reassure patients while protecting dignity, privacy and individual needs.
• Support the scrub practitioner in the circulating role, including opening sterile items and assisting with checks.
• Keep theatres and equipment clean and ready under infection prevention procedures.
• Maintain stock levels and complete documentation.
