Job summary

The Horder Centre is seeking a Theatre Sterile Services Assistant to join the Sterile Services team in Crowborough. You will help ensure surgical instruments are cleaned, decontaminated and sterilised to high safety standards, supporting theatre operations and patient care.

Qualifications

• Understanding of surgical instruments and sterilisation processes.
• Ability to operate washer disinfectors and sterilisers, or willingness to undertake training.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to infection prevention, patient safety and quality care.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, decontaminate, inspect, package and sterilise surgical instruments and equipment used in theatres.
• Maintain clean, safe working environment and follow infection prevention procedures.
• Assist with stock control and inventory management.
• Support training and induction of new colleagues where appropriate.
• Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, quality and patient outcomes.
