Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Northumberland is seeking a proactive Decontamination Technician to join the Sterile Services Department. You will clean, sterilise and pack instruments for use in operating theatres, and ensure sets are complete and ready for use.

The role involves delivering equipment to wards, returning dirty items for processing, and assisting with packing and reassembly. A Decontamination certificate is required, with training provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Decontamination certificate training required.
• Knowledge of HTM2010/2030 standards.
• NHS Decontamination Programme experience.
• Good understanding of health and hygiene.
• Knowledge of safe handling and cleaning of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sterilise and pack instruments for operating theatres and ensure sets are in full working order.
• Deliver equipment and stock to wards, ensuring dirty equipment is returned for processing.
• Assist in checking and processing equipment and wrapping for return to wards/department.
• Transport equipment across sites to ensure a seamless service.
