Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Theatre Instrument and Loan Kit Assistant to join the Chorley Theatre Team. You will help ensure theatres are stocked with the correct instrument trays and loan kits to support a wide range of surgical procedures.

The role involves receiving, processing, tracking, and returning loan kits, working closely with Sterile Services and procurement teams, and maintaining accurate records to support safe stock levels and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Numeracy and literacy skills at Level 1/Grade D/Grade 3 or above.
• Level 2 QCF diploma (Healthcare) or NVQ level 2.
• GCSE Maths and English grade C or above or Functional skills level 2.

Responsibilities

• Assist in receiving, checking and processing loan kits and instrument trays.
• Track and store instruments and loan kits to ensure theatre readiness.
• Escalate discrepancies, missing items or damaged equipment promptly.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for instrumentation and loan kit activity.
• Support infection prevention, cleanliness, and patient safety in theatre operations.

Education

Level 2 QCF diploma in healthcare / NVQ level 2

GCSE Maths & English grade C or above / Functional skills level 2 numeracy and literacy
