Job summary

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Instrument & Equipment Co-ordinator to support theatre operations. The role focuses on coordinating surgical instruments and equipment, liaising between theatre staff, theatre managers and sterile services, and handling instrument requests and deliveries.

The post involves decontamination duties and ensuring timely reprocessing of instruments.

Qualifications

• Experience in Manual Handling regulations, PPE, COSHH and completion of risk assessments.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements for medical devices, MDA/MHRA and Department of Health CJD requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgical instruments to and from Sterile Services, including recording issues and resolving where needed.
• Work with Medical Engineering and other areas to ensure equipment is available for start of theatre lists.
• Act as the main point of contact between theatre staff, theatre management and sterile services regarding instrument requests and deliveries.
• Undertake decontamination duties and assist in specialised decontamination of medical devices.
• Provide next-day instrument requirements lists to SSD to enable efficient reprocessing and reduce fast-tracking where feasible.
