Job summary

Gap Technical Ltd is recruiting a Testing Technician to join their manufacturing facility near Deeside. You will execute FAT on cables and heater systems and perform routine electrical testing to verify quality standards.

You'll prepare cable samples, perform MV terminations, and conduct tensile and hardness testing as part of QA/QC processes, while maintaining thorough records and supporting R&D initiatives as needed.

Responsibilities

Performance Objectives

• Execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on cables and heater systems to verify performance and quality standards
• Perform routine and specialized electrical testing on mineral-insulated cable systems
• Prepare cable samples and perform medium voltage terminations for testing
• Conduct tensile and hardness testing as part of QA/QC processes
• Support R&D initiatives aimed at improving cable performance
• Manage and maintain inventory of testing materials and equipment
• Uphold and promote strict adherence to safety protocols, PPE requirements, and industry regulations
• Maintain accurate, thorough records of test procedures, calibrations, and maintenance activities
• Provide general production support as needed

Testing Equipment Experience (Preferred)

• Line frequency HiPot (up to 50kV)
• Very low frequency (VLF) HiPot
• DC Insulation Testing
• Tan-Delta Testing
• Power Analysis Meters
• Inductance and Capacitance Meters
• High Current Injection
• Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) Fault Finding
• Data Acquisition and Logging Equipment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• 5+ years of QA/QC experience with electrical systems and test equipment
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Solid understanding of electrical systems and safety standards within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in MS Office for record-keeping and report generation.
• Practical experience with hand and power tools.
