Job summary

Gap Technical Ltd is seeking a Quality Technician to perform QA/QC testing on electrical systems at Deeside, Monday-Friday days. The role involves FAT testing on cables and heater systems, routine electrical testing of mineral-insulated cables, and maintaining meticulous testing records.

The candidate should have 5+ years of QA/QC experience, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and be proficient with MS Office and hand/power tools.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of QA/QC experience with electrical systems and test equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise reports.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems and safety standards within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office for record-keeping and report generation.
  • Practical experience with hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on cables and heater systems to verify performance and quality standards.
  • Perform routine and specialized electrical testing on mineral-insulated cable systems.
  • Prepare cable samples and perform medium voltage terminations for testing.
  • Conduct tensile and hardness testing as part of QA/QC processes.
  • Support R&D initiatives aimed at improving cable performance.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of testing materials and equipment.
  • Uphold and promote strict adherence to safety protocols, PPE requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough records of test procedures, calibrations, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide general production support as needed.

Performance Objectives


  • Execute Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on cables and heater systems to verify performance and quality standards

  • Perform routine and specialized electrical testing on mineral-insulated cable systems

Person Specification


  • Testing Equipment Experience (Preferred):



  • Line frequency HiPot (up to 50kV)

  • Very low frequency (VLF) HiPot

  • DC Insulation Testing

  • Tan-Delta Testing

  • Power Analysis Meters

  • Inductance and Capacitance Meters

  • High Current Injection

  • Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) Fault Finding

  • Data Acquisition and Logging Equipment




  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • 5+ years of QA/QC experience with electrical systems and test equipment

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
