Job summary

Shaw Education Trust is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join Tottington High School and help maintain continuity of learning when teachers are absent. You will supervise classes, implement pre-prepared activities, and keep pupils focused and well-behaved throughout lessons.

This role offers the chance to contribute to a supportive school community, with opportunities to develop professional skills and support pupils’ ongoing education and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school or educational setting is advantageous.
• Ability to supervise and manage classes effectively.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupils' welfare.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of their usual teacher.
• Deliver lessons and activities using work provided by teaching staff.
• Ensure pupils stay engaged with the learning and complete the work set.
• Maintain a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment.
• Manage behaviour in line with school policies.
• Provide support and encouragement to pupils.
• Report issues to relevant staff.
• Support the wider life of the school and the Trust.
