Job summary

The Supply Register Ltd is recruiting for a Design & Technology Technician to support a secondary school in Birmingham. You will prepare materials and equipment for DT lessons, maintain workshops and ensure safety compliance throughout the department.

The role is term-time only, with 8:00am–4:00pm hours, starting September 2026. The ideal candidate has DT workshop experience, DBS checks or willingness to obtain one, and solid references.

Qualifications

• Experience in a DT technician, workshop, engineering, manufacturing or maintenance role is desirable.
• Knowledge of workshop tools, machinery and health and safety procedures.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Two professional references covering the last 24 months.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials, tools and equipment for practical DT lessons.
• Maintain and organise workshops, classrooms and storage areas.
• Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained and stored safely.
• Assist teaching staff during practical lessons where required.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering materials and equipment.
• Carry out routine maintenance of machinery and tools in line with health and safety guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH and school procedures at all times.
• Dispose of waste materials safely and maintain a clean working environment.
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Head of Department or School Leadership Team.
