Job summary

St Elizabeth's Centre is seeking an experienced Chef for a term-time only position in Much Hadham, Hertfordshire. You will prepare and serve nutritious meals for children, young people and staff during school terms, with supervision of the Catering Team and support for the Chef Manager.

The role focuses on high standards of food safety, allergen awareness and dietary requirements, while contributing to the wellbeing of those we support. It offers a pro‑rata salary and term-time schedule.

Qualifications

• Experienced chef with large-scale catering experience.
• Knowledge of nutrition and allergens, and specialist dietary requirements.
• Strong food safety, hygiene and HACCP understanding.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious, high‑quality meals for children, young adults, staff and visitors.
• Assist with menu planning, stock control and day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Provide guidance to Catering Team and deputise for Chef Manager when required.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and HACCP.
• Ensure the kitchen is clean, safe, organised and compliant with regulations.
