Job summary

Bridgend County Borough Council Catering Services is seeking an Assistant Cook at Llangewydd Junior School to support the cook with universal primary free school meals and to coordinate daily kitchen activities ensuring a high-quality service for pupils and staff.

The role is term-time, 15 hours per week (10am–2pm, Mon–Fri). A Welsh-language greeting ability is required, and an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate is essential; enhanced DBS with the Children's Barred List is also required.

Qualifications

• Wales language ability required to greet customers in Welsh.
• Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate required; training provided if needed.
• DBS check (Enhanced with Children's Barred List) required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the cook with preparation of universal primary free school meals.
• Cover for the cook in their absence and at other schools within the county.
• Co-ordinate day-to-day activities in the kitchen to ensure a quality service.
