Durham County Council is seeking an experienced Learning Engagement Officer to lead the development and delivery of high‑quality cultural learning services on a maternity cover basis. You will manage a comprehensive learning programme and collaborate with schools, communities and partners to ensure inclusive, inspiring learning aligned with local priorities.

You’ll lead a small team, manage budgets and develop opportunities in collaboration with education professionals.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or equivalent with ongoing professional development.
• Experience delivering learning in cultural, heritage or visitor settings.
• Experience leading teams and delivering projects to set priorities.
• Strong understanding of cultural education and national agendas.
• Familiarity with the National Curriculum and learning across settings.

Responsabilités

• Act as internal/external lead for cultural learning across the Culture Service.
• Lead development/operational delivery of a high‑quality learning programme.
• Develop partnerships with schools, children’s services and education professionals.
• Build relationships across cultural, education and creative sectors.
• Lead engagement projects, activities, events and exhibitions for educational audiences.
• Manage staff, recruitment, supervision, training and development.
• Manage budgets, income targets and learning resources.
• Identify funding opportunities with commissioning colleagues.
• Produce reports and evaluate impact using frameworks.
• Ensure health, safety and safeguarding across learning activities.
• Promote customer service, equality, diversity and continuous improvement.
