Job summary

Office Angels in Chelmsford is seeking a Temporary Cashier / Credit Controller for immediate start. The role is a 2-month temporary assignment with hybrid working. The hourly rate is £15-£18 and hours are Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5pm.

You will process and allocate customer payments, reconcile bank transactions, investigate unallocated cash, and support Accounts Receivable to keep customer accounts accurate and up to date. Immediate availability is required.

Qualifications

Temporary Cashier / Credit Controller - Immediate start

£15-£18 per hour

Chelmsford, Essex

Monday to Friday, 8am - 4:30pm or 8:30am-5pm - Hybrid

This is a temporary opportunity for around 2 months, with the possibility to be extended. You must be available immediately to be considered for this opportunity.

Role Purpose: To accurately process and allocate customer payments, reconcile bank transactions, investigate unallocated cash, and support the Accounts Receivable function to ensure customer accounts remain accurate and up to date.

Key Responsibilities

• Post and allocate customer receipts onto the accounting system across all companies
• Ensure cash received is accurately matched and allocated against outstanding customer invoices.
• Investigate and resolve unallocated and unidentified cash receipts by liaising with customers and internal teams,
• Daily reconciliation of the bank recs
• Review customer remittances and reconcile complex payment allocations.
• Support the resolution of account queries relating to payments, credits, and outstanding balances.
• Process refunds and adjustments in accordance with company policies and approval procedures.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation for audit purposes.
• Work closely with all teams to resolve payment issues.
• Assist with month-end reporting and reconciliation activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve cash allocation processes and controls.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in an Accounts Receivable, Cashiering, or Finance Administration role.
• Experience of cash allocation and bank reconciliation processes.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and AR procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
• Excellent problem solving and investigative skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems
• Ability to manage high transaction volumes and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with customers and internal departments.
