Job summary

Office Angels UK offers a temporary Cashier / Credit Controller position in Chelmsford, Essex. Immediate start required with hybrid working options, typically 8am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5pm. Contract is for around 2 months with potential extension.

Role focuses on processing and allocating customer payments, reconciling bank transactions, and supporting AR tasks to keep accounts accurate and up to date.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an Accounts Receivable, Cashiering, or Finance Administration role.
• Experience of cash allocation and bank reconciliation processes.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and AR procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
• Excellent problem solving and investigative skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
• Ability to manage high transaction volumes and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with customers and internal departments.

Responsibilities

• Post and allocate customer receipts onto the accounting system across all companies.
• Ensure cash received is accurately matched and allocated against outstanding customer invoices.
• Investigate and resolve unallocated and unidentified cash receipts by liaising with customers and internal teams.
• Daily reconciliation of the bank recs.
• Review customer remittances and reconcile complex payment allocations.
• Support the resolution of account queries relating to payments, credits, and outstanding balances.
• Process refunds and adjustments in accordance with company policies and approval procedures.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation for audit purposes.
• Work closely with all teams to resolve payment issues.
• Assist with month-end reporting and reconciliation activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve cash allocation processes and controls.
