Job summary

Contract Scotland is seeking an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator to join a major civil engineering project in Lewis, Stornoway. The role is a long‑term, 12 months+ contract with a start ASAP and hours 7:00am–7:00pm, Monday to Friday.

You will coordinate temporary works across design, site and engineering teams, ensuring approvals, installation and maintenance are in line with approved designs. Candidates with strong site-based civil engineering background or previous TWC experience are

TEMPORARY WORKS COORDINATOR

Location: Lewis, Stornoway
Duration: 12 months+
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 7:00am - 7:00pm
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

We are looking for an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator to join a major civil engineering project in Lewis on a long-term contract basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing temporary works throughout the project, working closely with the Project Manager, Site Agent, engineering team, designers and consultants to ensure temporary works are properly planned, approved, installed and maintained.

Previous Temporary Works Coordinator experience is preferred, although candidates with strong civil engineering and site-based experience who have had responsibility for temporary works will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify temporary works requirements as the project progresses
Coordinate temporary works designs and prepare and agree design briefs
Liaise with the design team, consultants and temporary works designers
Ensure temporary works designs are appropriately checked, approved and available before works commence
Maintain and manage the temporary works register
Coordinate the installation and inspection of temporary works on site
Ensure temporary works are constructed and installed in accordance with approved designs
Manage and coordinate any changes to temporary works
Coordinate the safe loading and use of temporary works, including their subsequent dismantling and removal
Ensure all relevant temporary works records, permits and documentation are in place
Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Agent and wider engineering/site team
Monitor temporary works on site and identify any issues or requirements for remedial action
Requirements:

Previous Temporary Works Coordinator experience is preferred
CITB Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) training is desirable
Strong civil engineering/site experience
Good understanding of temporary works processes, design and coordination
Experience working with site teams, designers and consultants
Strong organisational and communication skills
Ability to manage temporary works documentation and registers
Ability to work effectively within a busy site environment
This is a long-term opportunity with a duration of 12 months+ and an immediate start available. Candidates based in the Central Belt may be particularly well suited due to the transport links via Glasgow Airport.
