We’re proud to be partnering on a retained basis with Macmillan Publishers who are one of the most respected names in global publishing, to recruit a Technology Development Manager to lead their UK Development Technology team.

This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned technology leader who’s excited by the challenge of steering a team through significant digital transformation, including the transition from Vista ERP to SAP.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical insight with people leadership, ensuring the delivery of high-performing, service-driven software solutions aligned with business goals.

The role:

Reporting to the Technology Director, the Development Manager will play a pivotal part in shaping and evolving internal technology capabilities. You’ll coordinate development workflows, ensure seamless service delivery to internal and external customers, and work closely with Project Managers and Business Analysts to deliver against strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing a high-performing UK-based application technology team
• Overseeing delivery of services and development aligned to SLAs and strategic timelines
• Supporting major ERP transitions and ensuring robust SAP integration
• Managing day-to-day performance, staff development, appraisals, and resourcing
• Contributing to wider technology strategy and project planning

• Proven leadership experience in IT development, ideally within an SAP ecosystem
• A background in both operational service delivery and project-based development
• Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA, system integration and tech life cycles
