Job summary

Steris AST Thorne site is recruiting for a Team Leader/Technician to operate within a safety‑critical environment. You will manage forklift operations, stock control, and quality‑driven processes across a 3 on/3 off pattern, with night shift allowances where applicable.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team in a highly regulated sector.

Qualifications

• Forklift licence (Forklift or Reach Truck) is required.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team.
• Background in Warehouse / Logistics / Foods or highly regulated sectors would be beneficial.
• Willingness to adapt to user-friendly software packages.

Responsibilities

• Operate Forklift to move pallets, ensuring correct labeling and quarantines in line with site procedures.
• Monitor processes and report damaged products or deviations to Quality Manager.
• Record and monitor stock levels and request reorders when needed.
• Resolve queries during loading/unloading operations.
• Collaborate with other departments across shifts and support root cause investigation & reporting.
• Ensure safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
• Maintain cleaning standards and complete cleanliness forms.
• Support the team to improve 5S standards (Continuous Improvement).
• Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
• Communicate effectively and interact with colleagues across teams.

Whether that product be a single use medical device, consumables in a hospital environment, cosmetics and toiletries, or industrial products, we make sure everything that makes its way to an end user is safe for use or consumption. The Technician has responsibility for the operation of the processing facility, allowing Customer supplied medical products to be received and processed in a timely manner at the STERIS Thorne facility. The Operations Dept should provide efficient and pro‑active support to the site as part of a dedicated team and should embrace the brand values of STERIS AST. The Technicians are involved in the management of a process utilizing hazardous materials, and the role includes several safety‑critical Forklift / Reach Truck driven tasks associated with the operation of safety‑critical equipment and handling. Working Pattern

• 3 on - 3 off (42 hrs per week)
• Either: 0600am - 1800 pm or 1800pm - 0600am (night shift allowance applies per hour worked)

What you will do

• Operate Forklift to ensure all pallets within the warehouse are suitably handled. labelled and where applicable, quarantines in line with site procedures.
• Monitor processes to ensure that products that are found to have damage or deviate from site requirements, are reported to the Quality Manager.
• Record and monitor stock levels and request reorder when required.
• Query resolution when operating the loading / unloading chambers.
• Partner with other departments and teams across different shift patterns and support with root cause investigation & reporting
• Ensure safety and standards are always maintained.
• Maintain cleaning standards by following procedures and associated cleanliness forms are documented.
• Support the team to improve the sites 5S Standards (Continuous Improvement).
  Valid Forklift or Reach Truck Licence.
• Can adapt to using user-friendly software packages.
• Attention to detail & accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
