Job summary

Renfrewshire Council in Scotland is inviting applications for a Technician (Traffic Signals) to join the Traffic and Transportation Team. You will assist with routine and reactive maintenance of traffic signals across the Renfrewshire road network and support the upgrade and renewal programme.

Technician (Traffic Signals)

This is an exciting opportunity to join Renfrewshire Council's Traffic and Transportation Team. Renfrewshire is presently working to complete the upgrade of its Urban Traffic Control system and to embark on a comprehensive programme of signal infrastructure renewal. The Technician (Traffic Signals) is a key member of the Traffic and Transportation Team who assists with instructing and supervising routine and reactive maintenance of the Traffic Signals situated on the road network within Renfrewshire.

You will be part of a small team of specialists providing traffic engineering support within Renfrewshire and will be responsible for assisting with the design and maintenance of traffic signal control systems.

You must have a working knowledge of relevant procedures, practices and regulations and legislation relating to Traffic Signals, a HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject or equivalent demonstrable experience, a proven track record of overseeing transportation projects and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

It is essential you have experience of management of Health & Safety including CDM Regulations 2015, experience of supervision of contractors including performance appraisal and you are able to work independently and as part of a team and able to work to defined timescales.

Communication and computing skills are also essential.

You must be motivated and able to manage competing demands and possess a pragmatic and analytical approach to problem solving. It is desirable that you hold a driving licence.
