Job summary

d3t is expanding its UK studio and seeking a Technical UI Designer for a 12 month fixed-term contract, hybrid in Daresbury or Newcastle. You will craft best-in-class UI/UX across platforms, collaborate with engineers and artists, and push front-end polish in a fast-paced AAA environment.

We value anti-crunch culture, mentorship, and a strong eye for typography. 3 days per week in-studio with flexible hours and remote UK options are available.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional game development experience with game engines.
• Implemented UI screens, widgets, logic, and data flows in collaboration with other disciplines.
• Experience in rapid prototyping to test concepts end-to-end with ownership.
• Experience polishing features to AAA quality and maintaining them throughout production.
• Experience with Unity UI, Unreal UI, ImGui, WPF or Qt is a plus; other engines like Frostbite are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Structure, plan, estimate, and implement UI features aligned with game goals and accessibility.
• Collaborate with engineers, scripters, UX designers, and UI artists to implement UI layouts and animations.
• Improve implementations based on feedback, requirements, art, and direction.
• Ensure interfaces scale across platforms and resolutions with smooth performance.
• Tool authoring: build tools and workflows for other UI artists to use.
• Shader and material work for UI elements like health bars and HUDs.
• Report to technical directors and project managers.
• Maintain attention to typography and visual detail.
• Collaborate inclusively and show a proactive problem-solving mindset.
