Job summary

d3t, part of the Keywords Studios Group, is expanding its UK studio and seeks a Technical UI Designer to help redefine UI/UX across platforms on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with hybrid work at our Daresbury or Newcastle sites.

You will collaborate with engineers, artists and designers to implement UI features, build tools, and ensure scale and performance, using Python/JS/C++ or visual scripting, with a no-crunch ethos and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional game development experience
• Implemented UI screens, widgets, logic, and data flows in collaboration with other game disciplines
• Experience in rapid prototyping to test feasibility from start to finish with ownership
• Experience polishing features to AAA quality and maintaining them throughout the production cycle

Responsibilities

• Structure, plan, estimate, and implement features aligning with game goals, accessibility, and technical standards
• Collaborate with engineers, scripters, UX designers, and UI artists to implement UI features such as 2D/3D layouts, menus, animations, HUDs
• Use Python, JavaScript, or C++ or visual scripting languages to implement UI logic
• Improve implementation based on feedback, design requirements, art and direction
• Ensure interfaces scale across platforms and maintain performance without frame drops
• Tool authoring: build tools and workflows for the UI art team
• Shader and material knowledge for UI shaders and transitions
• Report to technical directors and project managers
• Attention to detail and typography
• Collaborative and problem-solving mindset
