Job summary

Argyll and Bute Council is seeking a School Technician (Technical) at Islay High School to support the Technical department and classes. You will maintain hand tools and machinery, prepare materials, and assist teaching staff.

PVG clearance is required, and you will work term-time pro rata with a flexible approach. Applicants should have experience in a relevant environment with machinery and hand tools, good communication, and the ability to work independently or in a team while ensuring safety

Qualifications

• Experience in a relevant environment with machinery and hand tools.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team or independently.
• Desirable qualifications in computing, electronics or electrical areas.

Responsibilities

• Care and maintenance of hand tools and machinery.
• Preparation of wood, metal and plastic for classes.
• Receiving, checking, storing and documenting equipment and materials.
• Making teaching aids and assisting teaching staff.
• Maintenance of machinery including cyclical maintenance.
• Provide technical support to other departments when requested by Line Manager.
