Job summary

The Oil and Pipelines Agency is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join our team at Finnart OFD, Helensburgh, Argyll & Bute. You will work within a small maintenance team on safety-critical tasks ensuring high standards and compliance.

Applicants should have a recognised Mechanical Craft Apprenticeship or equivalent (NVQ levels) and possess knowledge of rotating and static plant, P&IDs, RAMS, and safe systems of work. A clean driving licence is essential for site travel.

Qualifications

• Qualified Mechanical Technician with a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of rotating and static plant, tanks, pumps, and piping systems.
• Experience with risk assessments and RAMS; ability to fill out paperwork accurately.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance and defect rectification efficiently.
• Report site defects to Depot Engineer for rectification.
• Complete weekly/monthly PPM paperwork on time.
• Prepare the work area for complex maintenance at depot.
• Utilise diagnostic techniques to identify faults in depot systems.
• Read technical drawings and P&IDs; ensure safe work practices.
• Review works and produce RAMS for safe task execution.
