Job summary

The Portfolio Group Inc. in Knutsford, a 100% office-based Internal Sales Engineer role, is seeking a commercially minded engineer to manage global client enquiries from quote to delivery.

Applicants should have a mechanical engineering background, experience in technical sales within industrial sectors, and proficiency with CRM and MS Office; you will collaborate with the external sales team to drive margins and growth.

Qualifications

• A formal Mechanical Engineering qualification (or equivalent hands-on industrial experience).
• Proven background in a technical sales or internal engineering support role within an industrial environment.
• Experience with valves, flow control, manufacturing, or the oil & gas sector is highly desirable.
• Proficient with CRM systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
• A proactive, highly organised communicator who thrives in a fast-moving, commercial environment.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the central point of contact for global clients, you will manage high-value technical and commercial enquiries from initial contact straight through to order delivery.
• Enquiry & Quote Management: Evaluate customer specifications to prepare accurate, competitive technical and commercial quotations.
• Account Development: Proactively nurture key accounts to identify new business opportunities, drive enquiry volumes, and maximise sales.
• Order Processing & CRM: Own the end-to-end order entry pipeline while maintaining precise records of opportunities within the CRM.
• Commercial Strategy: Review customer terms and ensure all project margins strictly align with company profitability expectations.
