An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Reporting Accountant to join a leading Lloyd’s insurance business within its Finance – Technical Reporting team.
The role will be responsible for delivering high-quality management and financial reporting, with a particular focus on the technical close process, IFRS 17, IFRS 4 and UK GAAP.
You will play a key role in the quarterly reporting cycle, working closely with Finance, Actuarial, external auditors and wider internal stakeholders. The role will also provide the opportunity to contribute to process improvement, system change and wider financial reporting projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the IFRS 17, IFRS 4 and UK GAAP technical close process.
- Prepare and produce the quarterly IFRS 17 and IFRS 4 technical result.
- Produce quarterly closing packs for Group Reporting.
- Provide accurate and timely management and financial information in line with relevant reporting requirements.
- Analyse movements in IFRS 17 balances and explain key drivers of financial performance.
- Work closely with the Actuarial function throughout the reporting and close process.
- Support internal and external audit activities, responding to queries and providing supporting information.
- Assist with the preparation of technical accounting memorandums.
- Contribute to process and procedure improvements, including financial reporting system change projects.
- Support wider Finance and Technical Reporting activities and ad hoc projects as required.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Lloyd’s, regulatory and company requirements.
Must Haves
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- 3–5 years’ experience within the insurance industry, ideally within a general insurer or Lloyd’s environment.
- Experience of, or significant involvement in, the technical close process.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS 17 methodologies and reporting requirements.
- Direct experience of IFRS 17 implementation and/or BAU reporting.
- Strong insurance technical accounting knowledge.
- Excellent analytical and MI reporting skills.
- Strong Excel skills, including SUMIFS, Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPS.
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate across Finance, Actuarial and other internal teams.
- Excellent organisation, task planning and time management skills.
- Experience working with external auditors would be highly beneficial.
