Job summary

Galejay Limited in London is seeking a qualified Technical Accountant to join its finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, offering up to £100,000 salary plus a 10% non-contributory pension.

You will own the technical close, produce monthly and quarterly results under UK GAAP and IFRS 17, prepare closing packs, and work with FP&A and external auditors.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
• At least 3–5 years insurance industry experience
• Knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS 17
• Strong Excel skills (SUMIFS, Pivot, VLOOKUP)

Responsibilities

• Own the technical close process and produce monthly and quarterly insurance results under UK GAAP and IFRS 17
• Prepare quarterly closing packs and analyse results against plan and prior year
• Investigate unusual movements and collaborate with FP&A across the reporting cycle
• Support finance change projects, improve reporting processes and controls

Job description

A leading London Market insurer is looking for a qualified Technical Accountant to join its finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role offers a salary of up to £100,000 plus a 10% non-contributory pension.

As a Technical Accountant you will take ownership of the technical close process and produce monthly and quarterly insurance technical results under UK GAAP and IFRS 17. You will also prepare quarterly closing packs, analyse results against plan and the previous year, investigate unusual movements and work closely with FP&A throughout the reporting cycle.

This Technical Accountant role will also involve supporting finance change projects, improving reporting processes and controls, assisting with system enhancements and liaising directly with external auditors.

To be considered for this Technical Accountant role, you must be:

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Experienced in the technical close of a general insurer.
• Able to demonstrate at least three to five years’ insurance industry experience.
• Knowledgeable in UK GAAP and IFRS 17.
• Highly competent in Excel, including SUMIFS, pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Confident working with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
