Job summary

Harrison Holgate is hiring a Technical Reporting Accountant in London for a 12‑month FTC. You will own the technical close for insurance results under UK GAAP and IFRS 17, and produce comprehensive quarterly packs.

Technical Reporting Accountant – 12 Month FTC

What You'll Do:

• Own the technical close process, including the preparation and production of monthly and quarterly insurance technical results under UK GAAP and IFRS 17.
• Produce comprehensive quarterly closing packs and conduct detailed financial reviews, analysing variances and investigating unusual movements.
• Support process improvement initiatives within the financial reporting domain, contributing to system enhancements and change projects.
• Liaise directly with external auditors and ensure all reporting requirements are met with accuracy and timeliness.
• Lead or assist in ongoing process and procedural change projects pertinent to core financial reporting, continuously seeking efficiency and control improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Qualified Accountant with at least 3-5 years of experience in the insurance industry.
• Proven experience in handling or significantly contributing to the technical close for a general insurer.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in MI reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and SUMIFS.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities, with experience liaising with external auditors.
• Robust organizational skills, with excellent task planning and time management.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with IFRS 17 reporting.
• Knowledge of process improvement methodologies.

• Previous experience in insurance technical accounting or financial reporting roles.
