Job summary

Weareedenbrook seeks an experienced Finance Reporting Manager to lead financial reporting within a large Life, Pensions and Investments provider. You will drive quarterly and annual reporting accuracy, governance and insightful commentary for governance papers and senior forums.

The role requires post-qualification experience in life insurance, strong IFRS and Solvency II knowledge, and the ability to partner with Actuarial and Risk teams. Expect a senior stakeholder-facing role in London.

Qualifications

• Qualified Actuary (FIA/FFA) or Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent.
• Demonstrable post-qualification experience within life insurance essential.
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, LUXGAAP and Solvency II.
• Experience leading financial reporting delivery and reviewing others' work.

Responsibilities

• Lead quarterly and annual financial reporting, including balance sheet, income statement, reserves and movements.
• Oversee production, review, reconciliation and analysis of financial results with sign-off recommendations.
• Analyse and explain results, identifying key drivers, variances, sensitivities and risks.
• Collaborate with Accounting and Actuarial teams to translate valuation outputs into financial results.
• Prepare governance commentary and disclosures for senior forums.
• Own and oversee the financial reporting control environment with validation and peer review.
• Lead responses to internal/external audits and regulatory queries.
• Improve reporting processes to increase transparency and reduce cycle times.
• Act as SME for financial reporting and define best practices.
• Lead cross-functional workstreams and influence stakeholders in a matrix environment.

Job description

We are working with a large Life, Pensions and Investments provider who are looking for an experienced Finance Reporting Manager to join their finance function.

This is a senior position with responsibility for leading financial reporting, strengthening governance and controls, and providing insight into financial results. You will work closely with Finance, Actuarial, Risk and senior stakeholders, with a strong focus on ensuring reporting is accurate, well controlled and delivered to agreed deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of quarterly and annual financial reporting, including balance sheet, income statement, reserves and financial movements.
• Oversee the production, review, reconciliation and analysis of financial results and provide sign-off recommendations.
• Analyse and explain financial results, identifying key drivers, assumption changes, experience variances, sensitivities and emerging risks.
• Work closely with Accounting and Actuarial teams to translate valuation and model outputs into meaningful financial results.
• Prepare commentary for governance papers, financial disclosures and senior/executive forums.
• Own and oversee the financial reporting control environment, ensuring appropriate validation, peer review and documentation.
• Lead responses to internal and external audit activity and regulatory queries.
• Develop and deliver improvements to reporting processes, with a focus on transparency, efficiency and reducing reporting cycle times.
• Act as a subject matter expert for financial reporting and define best practice across reporting activities.
• Lead cross-functional workstreams and influence stakeholders within a matrix environment.

About You

• Qualified Actuary (FIA/FFA or equivalent) or Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
• Demonstrable post-qualification experience within life insurance is essential.
• Strong experience in life insurance valuation and financial reporting.
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, LUXGAAP and Solvency II.
• Experience leading financial reporting delivery and reviewing work produced by others.
• Strong analytical and control mindset, with the ability to challenge results, reconcile financial information and design effective controls.
• Experience working with the Finance and Actuarial interface, with the ability to communicate complex financial and valuation matters clearly.
• IFRS 17 experience, including CSM/RA methodology, transition approaches, disclosures and governance, would be highly desirable.
• Strong audit and governance experience, including responding to senior Finance, Actuarial and audit queries.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to operate confidently with senior leadership.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong aptitude for financial reporting systems and data flows.
• Experience supporting transformation, systems change or improvements to financial control frameworks would be advantageous.
