Job summary

Mott MacDonald is a global engineering consultancy delivering energy and civil infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally. We seek a Technical Principal with deep structural engineering expertise to lead design, FEED, cost estimation, and multidisciplinary coordination on power generation and HV transmission projects.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage timelines and budgets, and drive quality across the project lifecycle while embracing a hybrid working model.

Qualifications

• Advanced Structural Engineering Knowledge with understanding of load-bearing capacity, materials, and design codes (Eurocodes, ASCE)
• Proficiency in Structural Analysis Software: SAP2000, ETABS or similar
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) for visualization, coordination and execution
• Project Leadership: manage structural projects independently including timelines, budgets and quality
• Proposal Writing and Cost Estimation: write compelling proposals and estimate project costs
• Front End Engineering Design (FEED): lead FEED activities related to structural components
• Design Coordination: coordinate with architects, electrical engineers and other disciplines
• Drawing Preparation: create detailed drawings for planning applications and tender packages
• Structural Assessment: assess existing structures for reuse opportunities and safety
• Communication and Leadership: clear verbal/written communication; leadership of junior engineers
• Experience in Energy projects advantageous
• Education: Civil or Structural Engineering degree; Chartered/CEng desirable
