Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Technical Principal to join the Civil and Structural Team within the Energy unit. You will lead design on power plants, HV substations, HVDC converter stations, and cable projects, delivering FEED, drawings, and specifications across a diverse portfolio.

The role requires advanced structural engineering knowledge, BIM and SAP2000/ETABS proficiency, and strong leadership to manage projects, write proposals, and coordinate across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Advanced structural engineering knowledge including load paths, materials, and Eurocodes.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000 and ETABS.
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) for project visualization and coordination.
• Project leadership, proposal writing and cost estimation experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead design work on power plants, HV substations, HVDC converter stations, and cable projects.
• Provide FEED and prepare drawings for planning applications and tender packages.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design between architects, electrical and other engineers.
• Prepare and review project specifications and assess existing structures for reuse.
