Job summary

WSP is seeking a Technical Director to lead structural engineering services for major energy infrastructure projects in the UK. You will manage client relationships, drive technical excellence, and mentor teams across transmission and distribution, substations, OHL structures, and power stations.

The role focuses on strategic leadership, multidisciplinary collaboration, and advancing innovation while delivering nationally significant energy assets.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a relevant professional body is essential.
• Significant experience in structural engineering design and project leadership.
• Experience in substations, transmission/distribution infrastructure, OHL projects, power stations, or petrochemical facilities is preferred.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the structural design and delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.
• Provide strategic input into project planning, resourcing, and risk management.
• Deliver structural solutions for substations, transmission and distribution facilities, OHL structures, and power stations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering technical excellence.
• Contribute to bids, proposals and client presentations.
