Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Technical Director – Design Manager with NSQEP experience to lead complex defence infrastructure design across Australia and the UK. This senior role requires guiding multidisciplinary teams, ensuring safety-critical design quality, and promoting nuclear safety within a robust NSQEP framework.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline; postgraduate qualifications highly regarded
• 25+ years delivering complex projects in defence, nuclear or other highly regulated industries
• Chartered status or professional membership with a recognised body
• NSQEP experience or capability demonstrated in nuclear, defence or similar regulated industries
• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams through design and project delivery
• Strong technical background in design management and safety-critical/defence infrastructure
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; ability to influence at all levels
• Track record of developing high-performing teams and contributing to growth

Responsibilities

• Lead integrated design teams across Australia and the UK with a collaborative culture
• Provide technical leadership across complex process systems, focusing on radiological waste management and supporting infrastructure
• Guide design integration across disciplines; resolve technical issues and manage risks
• Support the Design Lead with technical advice, planning and client/safety forums representation
• Mentor engineers and build NSQEP capability within the programme
• Build trusted client and stakeholder relationships and deliver practical, innovative solutions
• Identify opportunities and contribute to business growth while maintaining technical excellence
