This role involves working for a major telecommunications client as part of a close-knit team within the Transport domain, responsible for the Network Architecture and Design of the client's Mobile MPLS Core, Data Centres, Switch Sites, Internet Connectivity, Office Buildings, and Remote Access Platforms.
You will serve as an IP Network Design Senior / Technical Design Authority (TDA), focusing on the client's IP Networks. The role may require hands-on work in the lab, including physical tasks such as using screwdrivers. It is a senior-level position with a long-term outlook, working with experienced team members and stakeholders like the IP Networks Infrastructure Design Manager, Head of IP and Transport Networks, and others.
The ideal candidate will have a strong network security background, familiarity with the Telecoms Security Act, and expertise in EVPN, IP, MPLS, and BGP network design, build, and support in a service provider environment. Certifications such as CCIE/CCDP or JNCIE/JNCIS, with hands-on experience on Cisco and Juniper platforms, are expected. An understanding of Telecoms Transmission Systems is also required.
Excellent communication skills, experience with Change Control Processes, and flexibility to support out-of-hours network changes are essential. The role offers flexible working options, with up to 3 days per week on-site at the client's Network Laboratories in the M4/M3 corridor. Overseas candidates and those needing sponsorship are not considered. The rate is up to £550 per day, inside IR35.
