Job summary

Thames Water Utilities Limited is seeking a Technical Coordinator to ensure safe, compliant and efficient operation of treatment works. You will authorise works, manage materials and coordinate with contractors to keep assets in peak condition.

The role requires strong communication, a driving licence, and hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical maintenance within the water sector. You will coordinate with planners and suppliers to meet project goals and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience within water or wastewater sector or comparable industry.
  • Timed served an apprenticeship and relevant technical qualification.
  • Strong communication and engagement with stakeholders.
  • Valid driving license and ability to travel to sites.
  • Experience maintaining pumps and supporting equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Authorize works on treatment works and secure funding for rectification.
  • Ensure sewage treatment works under your scope are operational and maintained to standard.
  • Specify and order materials for maintenance.
  • Manage contractors for repairs and fault diagnosis.
  • Raise work orders in SAP.
  • Oversee PUWER inspections with Penstocks and coordination with Confined Space Authority.
  • Review service contracts and file reports in SharePoint.
  • Engage with stakeholders to plan activities and communicate effectively.
  • Lead designated activities within area and support larger projects.
  • Collaborate with planners, suppliers and 3rd parties.
  • Maintain asset knowledge and document details; manage multiple jobs.

Job description

The Technical Coordinator role is key to North-East London, without this role customer journeys and sewer health would take a significant impact. This role is responsible for authorising works on the treatment works and securing the funding for any rectification works required.,

  • You will play a key role as part of a team ensuring that sewage treatment works that you cover are operational and maintained to the correct standard.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring the materials required to maintain the plant is available for the maintenance team to complete tasks, by specifying and ordering materials.
  • Management and organisation of contractors to carry out repairs and fault diagnosis on pumps and the supporting equipment.
  • Raising work orders on SAP.
  • Management of PUWER inspections especially with Penstocks & coordination with Confined Space Authority
  • Reviewing Service Contracts and filing work reports in SharePoint.
  • Reviewing maintenance activities for continuous improvement and compliance with asset standards.
  • This role will require a large focus on engagement and communication with key stakeholders to ensure all activities are planned effectively and efficiently.
  • Be the lead person with specific activities within a designated area, including directing on briefed projects and providing support on larger scale projects.
    Strong communication skills between the Thames Water team and framework contractors.
  • Collaborative - able to work closely with Planners, Field Performance Managers, suppliers, and 3rd parties.
  • Technically experienced with a good understanding of how to maintain assets.
  • Good local knowledge of how important an asset is to a site and how it relates to other assets.
  • Meticulous at documenting the finer details of what needs to take place.
  • Able to manage a large workload of numerous jobs in parallel.
  • Competent with IT systems (will use SAP extensively) as well as strong communication skills
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry
  • Clean driving license
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have:
  • Relevant experience working within Water or Wastewater treatment or comparable industry, preferably experience as a Mechanical and Electrical technician or ICA technician.
  • Timed served an apprenticeship and relevant technical qualification.
