Job summary

SSE PLC is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to act as Technical Authority for bridges, buildings and onshore wind turbine foundations within SSE Renewables. The role covers UK, Ireland and Europe, shaping asset standards, governance and technical direction across the portfolio.

You will lead inspections, provide engineering solutions, and manage external consultants while travelling to project sites as needed. A degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and Chartered status are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• Chartered Engineer status with ICE or IStructE.
• Strong knowledge of bridges, buildings and wind turbine foundations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver an annual programme of inspections and asset assurance across bridges, buildings and wind turbine foundations.
• Provide technical leadership on asset integrity issues and develop mitigations.
• Manage external engineers and contractors to deliver studies, designs and reports.
• Review and optimise engineering solutions balancing safety, cost and long-term asset performance.
• Support projects through development, procurement, construction and operation phases with due diligence and supplier evaluation.
