Job summary

Oliver James is seeking a Technical Author for a 4-month contract in Milton Keynes. The role is 1 day on-site per week with the remainder remote, paying £350/day inside IR35.

You will own documentation for a data integration platform, collaborating with product owners, QA and developers to translate complex technical detail into clear content for technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

• Proven experience producing documentation for software, APIs, cloud, or similar technical products.
• Ability to translate complex technical detail into clear, structured content for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Comfortable working within Agile/iterative delivery environments and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Review existing functional specifications (API & SFTP) to identify gaps and ambiguity.
• Translate trends into clear, closed-gap documentation with the Data Quality team.
• Establish standardised naming conventions and terminology.
• Produce updated functional specifications for a data platform.
• Create supporting documentation for customers and internal stakeholders - release notes, FAQs, and related materials.
• Plan documentation structure, information architecture, and navigation flows.
• Edit and maintain consistency of tone, style, formatting, and terminology across all outputs.
