Job summary

Oliver James Associates Ltd. seeks a Technical Author in Milton Keynes for a 4-month contract to produce clear documentation for API and data product integrations. The role is mainly on-site 1 day a week with remote work for the rest.

You will own the documentation for a data integration platform, collaborating with product, QA and developers to translate complex technical detail into accessible content, including release notes and FAQs.

Qualifications

• Strong technical writing and editing skills for complex topics.
• Experience documenting software, APIs, cloud products.
• Comfortable in Agile environments and cross-functional teams.
• Experience with Markdown and documentation tooling.

Responsibilities

• Review existing functional specifications (API & SFTP) to identify gaps and ambiguity.
• Translate identified trends into clear, closed-gap documentation with Data Quality input.
• Establish standardised naming conventions and terminology.
• Produce updated functional specifications for a data platform.
• Create supporting documentation for customers and internal stakeholders (release notes, FAQs).
• Plan documentation structure, information architecture, and navigation flows.
• Edit and maintain consistency of tone, style, formatting across outputs.
