Job summary

ROYAL SOCIETY OF CHEMISTRY is seeking a Technical Waste Assessor to join a waste management team in Merseyside. You will assess technical and chemical waste enquiries from customers and sales teams, identify disposal routes, and provide technical advice in line with legislation and permits.

The role suits an experienced Site Chemist moving to a more office-based, compliance-focused position, with opportunities for development, training, and progression within a supportive company culture.

Qualifications

• HND/HNC or BSC in Chemistry or course with significant chemistry content.
• Previous experience in a Site Chemist role, with knowledge of chemical waste analysis and waste management processes, is preferred
• Must have full right to work in the UK there is no sponsorship available for this role.

Responsibilities

• Assess technical and chemical waste enquiries from customers and sales teams.
• Identify suitable disposal routes for packaged and bulk waste.
• Produce accurate quotations in line with legislation, permits and commercial requirements.
• Coordinate laboratory testing where further waste analysis is required.
• Provide technical advice to customers and internal teams on waste acceptance and disposal.
• Manage non-conformances and support waste acceptance activities within quality and safety standards.
• Build strong working relationships with third-party treatment and disposal partners.

They are now looking for a Technical Assessor to join the team. In this role, you'll apply your chemistry knowledge in a practical waste environment, making technical decisions and helping ensure waste is managed safely, efficiently and compliantly. This role would suit an experienced Site Chemist looking to move into a more office-based technical position. Recent Chemistry graduates will also be considered, provided they are keen to develop within a compliance-focused role rather than a laboratory environment.
