Job summary

Simplyhealth is seeking a Technical Accountant to ensure accurate, well-controlled financial reporting in the UK, blending technical accounting with commercial insight and governance.

You will partner with Finance, auditors, actuaries and senior stakeholders, providing guidance on complex accounting matters while supporting month-end and year-end activities and delivering meaningful financial analysis to drive decision-making across the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Providing technical accounting guidance and preparing technical papers on complex accounting and regulatory matters.
• Supporting the production of accurate management accounts, journals, reconciliations and month-end reporting.
• Leading balance sheet reviews, financial analysis and variance reporting.
• Maintaining a strong financial control environment and supporting governance processes across Finance.
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and planning activities, including cash flow forecasting and balance sheet planning.
• Producing reporting and insight packs for senior stakeholders, committees, executive leadership and the Board.
• Supporting statutory reporting, audit activity and regulatory submissions.
• Partnering with Commercial Finance, FP&A and operational teams to provide financial insight and challenge.
• Driving continuous improvement across financial processes, data quality and reporting.
• Leveraging tools such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI, Excel and emerging AI-enabled solutions to improve analysis and reporting.
