Job summary

Wayve is building the leading AI platform for autonomous driving. We’re hiring a Tech Lead Manager to head Synthetic Data within Simulation, guiding ML engineers and applied scientists to scale generative world models into training-grade data assets.

You’ll own end-to-end data generation, evaluation and training loops, drive synthesis throughput, and align the team with OEM program timelines in a highly ambiguous environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in ML engineering or applied research roles, with a track record of training and shipping neural networks.
• 4+ years of people management experience, including direct reports and cross-functional project ownership.
• Deep knowledge of generative modelling applied to video or high‑dimensional temporal data.
• Hands-on experience with video, generative or world models (video generation, novel-view synthesis, neural rendering, controllable generation).
• Experience with cameras and 3D geometry (multi‑camera rigs, intrinsics/extrinsics) and their impact on generation/trainings.
• Evidence of closing the loop: from generated data to a trained downstream model with measurable impact.
• Experience running large-scale multi-GPU jobs and production-grade tooling.
• Strong Python and PyTorch fundamentals; building research-grade production tools.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills; capable of leading from the front.
• Ability to balance technical depth with people leadership and navigate ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Architect the technical direction for GAIA generation and synthetic-data pipeline.
• Own the end-to-end loop from checkpoint/config to large-scale GPU inference and training artefacts.
• Hands-on leadership on key components, codebases, and experiments.
• Drive throughput: improve distillation, sampling, KV caching, and self-serve data requests.
• Challenge assumptions and push bold ideas to move beyond incremental gains.
• Lead a high-performing cross-functional team across ML engineers and applied scientists.
• Coordinate with world-model researchers, platform/infra teams, and evaluation to integrate synthetic data in the stack.
• Grow and structure the team; hire top talent and foster an inclusive, rigorous culture.
• Provide mentoring, growth plans, and hands-on technical engagement to the team.
• Navigate evolving priorities with clear communication and momentum.
