Job Title: Team Manager
Salary: £41.41 per hour

Contract: Full-Time, Temporary

About the Role:

Shropshire is seeking an experienced, motivated and committed Team Manager – Leaving Care to lead the Leaving Care Team, supporting young people aged 18–25 as they transition into adulthood and independent living.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified social work professional with strong leadership, management and quality assurance skills to make a meaningful difference to the lives of care-experienced young people. You will provide effective leadership, ensure statutory responsibilities are met, drive service performance and promote positive outcomes for care leavers across Shropshire.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership and Supervision: Manage and supervise a multidisciplinary team comprising seven Personal Advisers (PAs), a care-experienced apprentice and a Housing Officer. Ensure all young people receive supervision at least every eight weeks, in line with service requirements.
• Quality Assurance and Pathway Planning: Quality assure key documents and assessments in a timely manner, supporting Personal Advisers to meet their statutory responsibilities and maintain high-quality pathway plans.
• Performance Management: Monitor team performance, attend weekly performance meetings, review current data and agree clear action plans to address outstanding tasks and improve service delivery.
• Corporate Parenting and Partnership Working: Work collaboratively with colleagues across the partnership to review and update the local offer for care leavers, ensuring corporate parenting responsibilities are upheld and young people receive appropriate support and entitlements.
• Budget Management: Take responsibility for the team budget, including oversight of Setting Up Home Allowance grants and care leaver entitlements in accordance with the local offer.
• Participation and Engagement: Support the development and implementation of the care leaver participation offer, directly supervising the Care Leaver Participation Worker and promoting the voices, experiences and aspirations of young people.
• Duty Management: Act as duty manager for the Children Looked After (CLA) and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) Service, providing cover during staff sickness and annual leave.
• Operational Management: Support effective service delivery, maintain statutory compliance and ensure that care leavers receive timely, consistent and high-quality support as they move towards independence.
