Job summary

Sanctuary Personnel Limited is seeking a Team Manager - Fostering Team in Gateshead to lead a skilled social care unit and drive high standards of practice for children and young people.

You will oversee recruitment, assessment, approval, and supervision of foster carers, ensuring robust safeguarding and quality assurance across the team. Flexible ongoing/fixed shift arrangements accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW or equivalent.
• Practice Educator qualification or willingness to achieve this.
• Evidence of continued professional development.
• Registration with Social Work England.
• Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care.
• Substantial experience within fostering services, including supervision of foster carers.
• Previous management, Assistant Team Manager, or senior practitioner experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and supervise a team of social workers and fostering professionals.
• Oversee recruitment, assessment, approval, review, and retention of foster carers in accordance with fostering legislation and National Minimum Standards.
• Ensure effective safeguarding arrangements are in place, maintaining oversight of risk management and decision-making for children in care.
• Monitor the quality of assessments, care planning, supervision records, and case management through robust quality assurance processes.
• Chair professional meetings and contribute to fostering panels, permanency planning, and placement matching decisions.
