We are currently seeking a dynamic Social Work Team Manager who has extensive safeguarding and Child in Need experience to come and work in the locality team in Wigston.
We are introducing Families First Partnership Plus in Leicestershire, strengthening how we work with children and families by bringing together the strengths of family, community and professional networks to create lasting change. Using the Signs of Safety approach, you will support your team to work collaboratively with these networks, understand what is working well and what needs to change, and develop clear plans that safely manage risk. Throughout this work, childrens’ lived experiences, wishes and needs must remain at the heart of our decisions and everything we do.
This is a new way of working. Rather than operating in silos or through separate services, we are developing a place-based team approach that works with children and families across the continuum, from Targeted Early Help through to care proceedings and court. By working together around families, we will seek to prevent needs from escalating and reduce unnecessary handovers, providing greater consistency and continuity while keeping children and young people at the heart of everything we do.
You will provide leadership to your team, who will consist of a Senior Practitioner, Social Workers, and a Senior Social Work Oversight Practitioner who provides Social Work oversight to Keyworker-led Child in Need plans.
You will be responsible for allocating and prioritising workloads effectively and working with an integrated locality management team to ensure that we are providing high levels of support and protection to children. Your role is also to develop and support your team to provide an effective, efficient and consistently high-quality service. As a key bridge between the team and the wider organisation, you will ensure that organisational priorities, decisions and expectations are clearly understood and translated into practice, while representing the team’s experiences, achievements and challenges within the wider service. You will promote open communication, collaboration and shared learning, helping colleagues to feel connected to the organisation and supported through change.
The right candidate will have responsibility for the whole team, you will be covering duty and assessment work on a rota with the other locality managers and will be expected to meet objectives and ensure performance targets are achieved.
An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

Reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants with a disability. We are a Disability Confident Employer.
