Job summary

Leicestershire County Council in Wigston is seeking a Social Work Team Manager with extensive safeguarding and Child in Need experience. You will lead a team of professionals to manage cases, allocate workloads, and develop services that keep children safe while coordinating with a locality management team.

The role requires a Social Work degree or equivalent, supervisory experience, and a valid UK driving licence. A flexible and inclusive approach is expected in delivery of services.

Qualifications

• Social Work degree or equivalent and continuing professional development.
• Experience of statutory childcare social work, including Child in Need, safeguarding, child protection and care proceedings.
• Experience supervising staff and/or social work students; management experience.
• Excellent safeguarding knowledge and best practice in service delivery.
• Ability to analyse information, make decisions under pressure, and report to the Service Manager.
• Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team including Senior Practitioner, Social Workers and Oversight Practitioner.
• Allocate and prioritise workloads; ensure high levels of protection for children.
• Develop the team and translate organisational priorities into practice.
• Represent the team's experiences and challenges to the wider service.
• Promote open communication and collaboration within the locality team.
