Leicester City Council's Children’s Social Care service is seeking a permanent Family Help Team Manager to lead one of its social work clusters and drive high-quality practice.

The role focuses on supervising social workers, managing a diverse caseload, and delivering strong performance with a trauma-informed, Signs of Safety approach. Hybrid working and an out-of-hours rota are included.

Leicester City Council's Children's Social Care service is recruiting a permanent Family Help Team Manager to lead one of its Children's Social Work Clusters. The role centres on leading supervision and team performance, alongside managing a caseload within Family Help social work that uses Signs of Safety, trauma-informed practice and the Lundy model of participation. The post is hybrid, combining home working with time at Leicester offices, and includes an out-of-hours rota. Applicants must be practising social workers in the UK, with Social Work England registration.

• Lead and manage the performance of the Family Help team

What’s required

Qualifications

• Relevant professional qualification, such as a social work degree, DipSW, CQSW or CSS, or equivalent for education, police or health

Registration & licences

• Social Work England registration
• Currently practising social work in the UK

Experience

• Experience of children's social work
• Strong track record of working with children, young people and families to achieve positive outcomes

Skills & knowledge

• Knowledge of legislation relevant to children's social work
• Motivating and developing staff effectivelyGuiding a team to work flexibly
• Working under pressure
• Awareness of issues affecting vulnerable children, families and carers, including looked after children
