Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced Social Work Team Manager to lead a locality team in Wigston, delivering safeguarding and Child in Need services. You will steer a Senior Practitioner, Social Workers and an Oversight Practitioner, coordinating duty and assessment work through a planned rota to meet service targets.

Qualifications

• Social Work degree or equivalent, e.g. CQSW, DipSW (with specialism in children’s services).
• Experience of statutory childcare social work, including Child in Need, safeguarding, child protection and care proceedings.
• Experience of supervising staff and/or social work students. Management experience.
• Excellent safeguarding knowledge and best practice in the delivery of quality services.
• Experience of using performance indicators to monitor and improve performance.
• Ability to analyse information to reach sound decisions, often under pressure, and take responsibility for their outcome and regular reporting to the Service Manager.
• You MUST hold a full, valid, UK driving licence (or be able to convert your current licence) and have access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the locality team, including a Senior Practitioner, Social Workers, and an Oversight Practitioner.
• Allocate and prioritise workloads effectively within an integrated locality management team.
• Develop and support the team to provide an effective, efficient and high-quality service.
• Represent the team’s experiences and challenges within the wider service and ensure priorities are translated into practice.
• Cover duty and assessment work on a rota with other locality managers and meet performance targets.
