Team Leader Electrical Production
South Wales Permanent

CAF Rolling Stock, a global leader in the manufacture of railway vehicles and equipment, is seeking a calm, driven, and technically skilled Team Leader to join our state-of-the-art, purpose-built manufacturing facility in South Wales.

This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in a high-profile, long-term rail project while developing your leadership and technical capabilities within a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

The Role

As Team Leader, you ll lead a small electrical team (approx. 8–15 operators) on the production line, providing hands-on technical support and day-to-day guidance. You ll be responsible for:

  • Reviewing production schedules and ensuring builds are completed to a high standard
  • Managing project costs and keeping them within or under KPIs
  • Leading daily meetings and SQDCP briefings to align team goals
  • Ensuring safety protocols are followed and the correct tools/materials are available
  • Supporting ramp-up production and training new team members
  • Providing electrical expertise, including reading and interpreting schematics
  • Handling standard team leader responsibilities (e.g., return to work, disciplinaries)

You ll report directly to the Production Manager, who is deeply committed to developing future managers through training, mentoring, and career progression.

Essentials
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or production
  • Proven leadership experience (managing 3–15 people)
  • Strong electrical background with ability to read schematics
  • IOSH Certified
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Six Sigma knowledge
  • Experience in cost control and leading SQDCP briefings
Desirable
  • Electrical degree or formal electrical qualifications
  • Experience in rail or electrical systems in manufacturing
